And We’re Off…

Welcome to the new RadioInsight.com. What you are seeing on this page is the result of almost three years of planning, learning, and building. There were many obstacles along the way, including having to start a new website from scratch along the way. Plenty of software changes and enhancements have certainly made life easier.

Here on the front page you’ll see all of our headlines in the left column. The middle column features excerpts of all of our recent NetGnome entries and our new Blogs section. The right column features our Broadcast Buzz and Blogger Buzz as well as the recent entries on the boards. At the top you can see our new board navigation menus as well.

This is just the beginning of what we have planned. In the next few months you will see additional content including a revamped discussion board system, audio programming, and some other surprises.

Thank you for your continued support of RadioInsight.com

Kissing in Portsmouth

Kiss 95.3 WUBB Portsmouth B95.3

Update 1/14/08 – At 6:00am today, WUBB became “Kiss 95.3” simulcasting sister “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM Boston along with local traffic and weather breaks.

Update 1/10/08 – As the following logo now appears on Clear Channel’s server, the existing site for WUBB now redirects to a page claiming that Sports Radio is coming soon with a link to FoxSports.com. We should expect some action in the Seacoast shortly.

Original Entry 12/30/07 -Clear Channel has registered kiss953.com, which is pointing to wubb-ip.clearchannel.com. WUBB is currently Country “B95.3“, secondary in the region to Citadel Country powerhouse 97.5 WOKQ. Based on the fact that Clear Channel already operates Adult CHR 107.1 WERZ in the market, we’re expecting Kiss 95.3 to be Rhythmic leaning or there to be an accompanying shift at WERZ. Additionally, the website hints that WXKS-FM Boston’s Matty in the Morning will be simulcast on 95.3 after the flip.

Day 1

One of my goals with the new design is to open the door to what’s going on behind the scenes at RadioInsight. That said, the first full day of the new design went off pretty well. The server is holding up even better than I expected as there hasn’t been any bumps at all.

I was asked whether there was a way to view to posts on the site the old way, with all categories mixed together. If you’d like you can do so by going to http://radioinsight.com/2008/ as that will list all posts made this year.

Thank you to the person who discovered us using Mandy Moore’s Search Engine. I hope you found the information on “99.7 The Boulevard” that you were looking for.

Happy Belated Trogday!

WWFF Huntsville Becomes “93.3 The Wolf”

93.3 WWFF The Wolf Huntsville Country

Update 1/15/08: WWFF launched its new format as “93.3 The Wolf” today as had been expected.

Original Post 1/14/08: Cumulus’ 93.3 WWFF New Market, AL has begun stunting with Movie Scores. The station has just moved its tower closer to the Huntsville market from its previous location of Tullahoma, TN downgrading from Class C1 with 100kw at 982 feet to C2 with 14.5kw at 914 feet, but with full coverage of the Huntsville market.

The station was previously Urban AC as WHRP. Those calls and format now reside at sister 94.1, which had been simulcasting 93.3 as WXQW.

It had been previously announced that the station will flip to Country “93.3 The Wolf”.

107.1 WLIR To Simulcast ESPN 1050 New York

107.1 WLIR Hampton Bays Long Island Suffolk WDRE

One week after announcing an LMA to simulcast on 1040 WCHR Flemington, NJ, Disney’s “1050 ESPN” WEPN New York adds a third signal with an LMA of 107.1 WLIR Hampton Bays, NY. WLIR covers the eastern end of Long Island as well as being audible in portions of Southern Connecticut. WLIR dropped its Alternative Rock format earlier this month and has been simulcasting sister Dance “Party 105.3” WDRE. The ESPN simulcast will begin on Monday, January 21.

The 107.1 frequency has had an interesting history. Originally operated by a group including musician Paul Simon as WWHB “HB 107″, the station spent much of the early 90′s simulcasting WNEW New York. In 1997, it became part of Big City Radio’s “Y107″ Country quadcast first as WWVY and later WWXY. After Big City went bankrupt, the station was sold to Nassau Broadcasting and quickly spun to The Morey Organization where it began simulcasting 92.7 WLIR Garden City, NY. 92.7 was sold to Univision to become a New York City rimshot and WLIR’s format and calls were shifted to 107.1. The station was originally called “107.1 The Box”, but quickly reverted back to the WLIR branding, which it has retained except for a three month run as “Neo-Breeze”, a Popular Standards/Adult Alternative hybrid with limited sponsorships. WEPN will become the fourth station targetting New York City to be simulcast on the 107.1 frequency.

“Rock 100.5″ Atlanta Coming

With Q100 moving to 99.7 this week, the speculation in Atlanta centers on what will end up on 100.5. Based on domain registrations made this week, we’re fully expecting “Rock 100.5″ to be the new station.

Cumulus has registered Rock1005.com, Rock100Atlanta.com, Rock100Atl.com, and 1005Rock.com along with .net variations of all. All of those domains are pointing to the site of sister “Warm 98” WRRM Cincinnati. This is a similar tactic to that done by sister WWFT Indianapolis a few weeks ago prior to its change to AC.

Crosstown 96.1 WKLS was known as “96 Rock” from 1974 until November 2006, when it relaunched as “Project 9-6-1“. This helps verify the rumors that former WKLS morning team “The Regular Guys” will do mornings on 100.5.
