These CBS Radio Rumors
February 17, 2009

Over the past 36 hours rumors have been flying regarding CBS making a number of format flips in multiple markets.
The first of which came true today as Rhythmic AC KMVK “Movin 107.5″ Dallas flipped to Spanish Hot AC as “Mega 107.5“.
We have found a number of domains that could hint at a possible flip in Los Angeles.
AmpRadioLA.com, Amp971.com, and Amp971fm.com were all registered anonymously on February 9. Back on January 16, AmpRadio971.com and 971AmpRadio.com were registered by programming consultant Anthony Acampora.
CBS launched the “AmpRadio” brand in Los Angeles as a Teen-oriented webcaster/HD2 simulcast last February on 93.1 KCBS-HD2.
We haven’t found any domains that point to any other markets, yet… However, WXRK New York Morning Host Opie links to two ominous pictures on his Twitter account here and here.

Now CBS is confirming that Friday at 5:00pm, KLSX will become “Amp Radio 97.1″ playing “All The Hits”.

The Amp Goes To Disney World?
February 24, 2009

The radio industry has been buzzing with possible future locations for CBS’ “Amp Radio” now that KLSX in Los Angeles has flipped. So far, there’s a lot of decoys out there (especially thanks to celebrity blogger trampradio.com) and a number of other people squatting on domains they think may be in the future.
However, CBS Radio has registered one other domain that points to a possible future Amp location not on anybody’s radar: Orlando. AmpRadio1051.com was registered yesterday by CBS Radio. The only 105.1’s in CBS’ portfolio are struggling Hot AC “Mix 105.1” WOMX Orlando and more successful Country KNCI Sacramento.
WOMX has dropped steadily in the ratings over the course of 2008 and a flip to CHR could help CBS cut down two competitors while helping a sister station. Clear Channel CHR “XL 106.7” WXXL and Cox Rhythmic “Power 95.3” WPYO would take the biggest hit from from a direct CHR competitor. CBS sister Urban “102 Jamz” WJHM would rise above those two should that happen.
As far as New York or anywhere else goes. Just a bunch of decoys and squatters. Unless that’s what CBS wants us to think.
