Beasley Media Rock “98.7 No Rules Rock” WBRN-FM Holmes Beach/Tampa has named Jeff Zito as their new Program Director.
Zito joins WBRN-FM from sister “96.1 K-Rock” WRXK Fort Myers where he served as PD/Midday host since January 2015. He has been a longtime personality in the Fort Myers markets as morning host at Alternative “99X” WJBX with Bob Garrett from 1999-2012 followed by a brief midday run with him at WRXK during its short-lived Hot Talk run. Zito returned to WRXK in 2015 after a brief run at Sun Broadcasting’s “93X” 93.7 WXNX as morning host.
Zito replaces Carl Harris who exited in February.
Beasley Media Group, Inc. a subsidiary of Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc, (NASDAQ: BBGI ) today confirmed Jeff Zito is moving up the Gulf Coast from his position as Program Director at Fort Myers station WRXK / K-ROCK to begin his new PD role at Tampa’s WBRN / 98.7 NO RULES ROCK. Zito will start working as WBRN’s Program Director, on Monday, June 20.
“Jeff Zito is a perfect fit for 98.7 No Rules Rock,” said Beasley’s Tampa Operations Manager Tee Gentry. “He has proven himself as a winning PD at 96 K-ROCK with Beasley in Ft Myers and we are excited to have him here in Tampa Bay!”
Florida radio pro Jeff Zito launched his career in 1996. He worked at several radio stations before he landed jobs in Ft Myers, where he hosted mornings at WJBX as half of the Zito and Garrett show. He subsequently moved over to sister station (hot talk) WRXK. “I’ve done sports talk at WHFS (now WBRN) Tampa, and I’ve done radio in Miami,” said Zito. “But, I went back to work in Ft Myers, and eventually came over to K-Rock at WRXK, where I enjoyed serving as midday announcer/program director. Now, I’m ready to move on up the coast to Beasley’s Tampa cluster to work for WBRN and 98.7 NO RULES ROCK!”
“We are all very happy for Jeff Zito,” added Beasley’s Fort Myers Operations Manager Adam Star. “He’s made a significant impact as PD of WRXK and he’ll be missed. Zito is successful because he passionately lives the lifestyle, and he’s a team player. I have no doubt Jeff Zito’s skills absolutely led us to our monster ratings!”
Currently, Beasley is actively searching for a new, outstanding Program Director to lead WRXK into the future. K-ROCK, Beasley’s flagship 100,000 watt station in Southwest Florida, has been thrilling its fiercely devoted listeners for the past 30 years.
