Update 3:15pm: Baisden is now claiming that Cumulus Media Networks has locked him out of their studios and will run best-of programming through March 29.
The Michael Baisden Show Staff has been “Locked Out” of Cumulus Studios…really Cumulus?
In the words of Rodney King, “Can’t we all get along?” Just because we couldn’t come to an agreement is no reason to deprive the listeners, our affiliates, and our advertisers of only 9 days to say goodbye and show our appreciation.
All their action does is make me more determined than ever to come back! And next time there will be no middlemen between me, my affiliates, and my listeners. Lesson learned!
Now it’s time to get to work on the return of the Best Show On Radio… and I’ll be kicking butt and taking names.
I’ll miss you family, stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter for my daily inspiration post and updates on the return of The MB Show! The journey continues!!!
~ Michael Baisden
P.S. You’ll hear per-recorded shows through March 29th. Shame, Shame, Shame… but it is what it is, let’s move on, we have lots of work to do!
Original Report 11:45am: Syndicated afternoon host Michael Baisden has announced he will be departing his program on March 29 after ten years.
Baisden, currently distributed by Cumulus Media Networks, made the announcement in a long entry on his program’s Facebook page.
Telling listeners that it was not his intention to leave radio and that he’ll be back sooner than you think, it appears the decision was contractually motivated. His program is heard on many Urban AC and Gospel stations including WHUR Washington, WSRB Chicago, WAMJ Atlanta, and WDMK Detroit. Over the past year he lost a few high profile affiliates including WRKS New York and WDAS-FM Philadelphia.
It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for him. It was coincidence that I managed to listen to what was unofficially his “goodbye show” the other day, not knowing why he was taking the tone he was. I didn’t know if it was a medical leave or what but it was interesting radio. I’m not the target demo for his show but enjoyed his advice and musical selections anyway.
