Entercom has flipped 910 KMTT Vancouver, WA/Portland from local artists “NW Bands Only” to Sports utilizing CBS Sports Radio.
“Sports 910” will compliment Entercom’s existing “1080 The Fan” KFXX. The station has also agreed to become the flagship for University of Portland basketball.
The previous local music format will remain on 94.7 KNRK-HD2.
The press release announcing the launch of Sports 910 follows:
Entercom Portland has launched a new sports station. Sports 910 (KMTT-AM), which began fulltime sports programing on November 1, 2013, features CBS Sports Network programing and will include local and national play-by-play content.
“The demand for compelling local and national sports talk continues to grow, so we’re excited to bring a new option to Portland listeners,” Entercom program director Jeff Austin stated. “Sports 910, in combination with 1080 The FAN, deepens our commitment to the community and what we think is the most loyal and engaged audience available.”
Vice President and Market Manager Tim McNamara added, “Sports 910 will continue our commitment to all local and national sports coverage in Portland. We are proud to be part of the CBS Sports family. We are excited about the future of Sports 910 and 1080 The FAN.”
Sports 910 will feature local and network programing including CBS’ John Feinstein Show, Doug Gottlieb Show, the return of Ferrall on the Bench, network play-by-play and University of Portland athletics.
Not a surprise. Seems like 910 in Portland is just a throw away frequency for Entercom. Wasn’t it sports prior to simulcasting KNRK HD-2? I swear they simply just don’t know what to do with it. Like 1350 in New Orleans.
