Greg Reed’s purchase of six stations in the Pittsfield, MA market has been dismissed.
Reed had agreed in August to purchase AC 800 WSBS Great Barrington, AC 1230 WNAW North Adams and Classic Hits “Whoopie 100.1” WUPE-FM North Adams from Berkshire Broadcasting and 1110 WUPE, News/Talk 1420 WBEC, and Hot AC “Live 95.9” WBEC-FM Pittsfield from Gamma Broadcasting for the sum of the six stations cash flow multiplied by 5.25.
Competitor WBRK Inc. quickly filed a petition to deny based on the fact that the sale documents including the actual purchase price were never filed with the FCC. On December 30, both Berkshire and Gamma withdrew the transfer application.
Reed, the prospective buyer, was the former General Manager of WQAM and WPOW Miami and co-owner of Beasley Broadcasting when it was known as Beasley-Reed Broadcasting.
WSBS’ frequency is 860, not 800.
