Update 4/29: As Way Media’s LMA of 93.9 WAYI Sellersburg/Louisville comes to a close, the station has gone silent following three plus weeks of redirecting listeners to 104.3 WAYG Charlestown, IN and 105.9 WAYK Valley Station, KY.
As Cumulus prepares to retake control of the station it owns, the company has filed to change WAYI’s call letters back to WLCL. The WLCL call letters were used by the station as “Classic Hits 93.9” from November 2008 until changed to WAYI in April 2011.
Original Report 4/1: Way Media has completed the move of their Christian AC “Way-FM” from 93.9 WAYI Sellersburg, IN/Louisville to 104.3 WAYG Charlestown, IN and 105.9 WAYK Valley Station, KY.
The 93.9 signal, which had been leased to Way Media by Cumulus, is now running a loop redirecting listeners to the new frequencies. Way had been operating 93.9 since October 2010 after Cumulus pulled out of the Louisville market. 104.3 WAYG had been leased to New Albany Broadcasting until as Classic Hits “Louie 104.3” WLUE until earlier this year. 105.9 returned to simulcasting WAYI after airing its own Christian format branded as “Shine 105.9” WSYI.
Could Louie make a return to 93.9?
I’m hoping for a simulcast of ESPN 680/105.7 to further strengthen their signal in the area. If not that I would be ok with the Louie format on 93.9
