After being off-the-air for a few months Cumulus has relaunched 590 WARM Scranton, PA as an affiliate of CBS Sports Radio.
WARM had suffered with sporadic outages for the past few years due to multiple transmitter and tower issues. It applied last month for a permanent solution which will see the station dismantle two of its five towers and drop power from its previously licensed 5kW to 1.8kW days and 430 watts at night. The station is currently operating under Special Temporary Authority with 1250 watts until the permanent application is approved and built.
Prior to go dark WARM was airing an Oldies format utilizing Cumulus’ Good Time Oldies network (and True Oldies Channel before that). The move to CBS Sports gives the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre market its fourth Sports formatted station joining Bold Gold’s “Game” network, Shamrock’s “NEPA’s ESPN” network and Entercom’s “102.3 The Sports Hub” WHBS. Cumulus registered SportsRadio590AM.com in mid-November but has yet to activate it.
