FCC Applications 6/21: Phoenix & St. Louis Translator Upgrades

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
June 21, 2015

Translator Moves

Arizona Gold 1440 KAZG Pulse 92.7 K224CJ Phoenix 101.5 St. Louis FCC Application Radio Station Construction Permit CPHappy Dog Communications applies to increase power of 92.7 K224CJ Phoenix from 10 to 250 watts from its current 447 meter antenna on South Mountain. The move will come with a change in originating station from East Valley Institute of Technology’s CHR “90.7 The Pulse” KVIT Apache Junction
to Hubbard’s 93.3 KDKB-HD2 Mesa, which currently simulcasts Oldies “AZ Gold 1440” KAZG Scottsdale (Coverage Map).

Kaspar Broadcasting of Missouri is proposing to relocate 101.5 K268CT Saint Peters, MO to the Crestwood Master FM Tower in St. Louis. K268CT would operate with 250 watts at 268 meters rebroadcasting an HD subchannel of Radio-One’s “Hot 104.1” WHHL Hazlewood (Coverage Map).

Pamal Broadcasting, which last week purchased the CP for 100.5 W263CG Colonie, NY from Galaxy Communications, applies to relocate the translator from the studio building of Townsquare Media’s Albany cluster a half-mile down the road to the tower of its “100.9 The Cat” WKLI-FM where it will operate with 250 watts at 99 meters rebroadcasting Oldies “Magic 590” WROW Albany (Coverage Map).

Richard Tatham holds a CP to relocate 97.9 K250AF Las Vegas, NV to 93.7. He now applies to modify it to operate with 250 watts at 548 meters rebroadcasting an HD subchannel of iHeartMedia’s 95.5 KWNR (Coverage Map).

After building out its previous CP to increase power and coverage into St. George, UT, Community Education Foundation’s 102.7 K274CQ Mesquite, NV applies to move again to a tower site near Toquerville, UT with a COL change to St. George. K274CQ will operate with 250 watts at 178 meters rebroadcasting the Classical programming of Nevada Public Radio’s 90.3 KSGU-HD2 St. George that originates at 89.7 KCNV Las Vegas (Coverage Map).

Nortwest Rock N Roll Preservation Society files a displacement application to move 98.5 K253BW Union Mill, WA to 103.3. The move will require K253BW to drop from 130 to 120 watts while remaining at its current 47.6 meter antenna. The move is due to the application of 98.5 KNBQ Central Park to move east towards Olympia. K253BW rebroadcasts Oldies 99.9 KGHO-LP Hoquiam (Coverage Map).

World Radio Network’s 97.5 K248AM McAllen, TX applies to slightly drop antenna height from 85 to 80 meters from its existing antenna and remaining at 250 watts rebroadcasting sister Christian AC 96.9 KVMV McAllen (Coverage Map).

Headwaters Media’s 103.1 K276AA Salida & Buena Vista, CO seeks a shift to 103.3 with 180 watts at -194 meters rebroadcasting “1340 The Ranch” KVRH Salida (Coverage Map).

WLOH Radio Company’s 104.5 W283BO Lancaster, OH applies to increase antenna height on its current CP. Instead of operating with 250 watts at 75.6 meters, W283BO proposes a 101 meter height continuing to rebroadcast Country 1320 WLOH Lancaster (Coverage Map).

Station Moves

Alabama Media applies to move two of its Dothan, AL market stations to a new location. Classic Hits “102.5 The Q” WESP Dothan and Country “B105.3” WECB Headland will both operate with 10kW at 132.3 meters (102.5 Coverage Map) (105.3 Coverage Map). Sister “Rock 100.5” WJRL Slocomb already holds a Construction Permit to operate from that location with the same facilities.

Morningstar Media’s “Supertalk Mississippi” 103.3 WZKR Collinsville/Meridian, MS applies to shift to the site of 93.1 W226BI where it will operate with 6kW at 167 meters (Coverage Map).

After Green Mountain Educational Fellowship’s 90.5 WVFA Lebanon, NH’s application to increase from 12 to 300 watts from its current 187 meter antenna was dismissed due to overlap with WCKJ St. Johnsbury, VT, the group applies for a smaller increase to 15 watts (Coverage Map).

After building out its facility at a temporary location to beat out its Construction Permit, Hubbardston Community Radio’s 103.7 WSJH Hubbardston, MI reapplies for its original 6kW at 100 meter facility where it will rimshot the Lansing market from the northwest (Coverage Map).

After requesting that its current CP be dismissed as it was set to expire later this month, St. Paul Bible College’s Public News/Jazz 89.5 KJZA Drake, AZ reapplies for the same 1kW at 770 meter facility (Coverage Map).

The same scenario is being played out at Lake Area Educational Broadcasting Foundation’s Christian AC “Spirit-FM” 89.5 KCKJ Sarcoxie/Joplin, MO. KCKJ has reapplied for the same 50kW at 107 meter facilty that was in its now cancelled CP (Coverage Map).

To bad that KDKB’s HD 2 is turned off. I finally got my HD Radio hooked back up, got all excited that I’d get the Goldminer’s in Glorious HD, and nothing there. 🙁
