Update 4/1: At 9am after stunting with a loop of AC/DC’s “Back In Black” for a few hours and an introductory clip from the movie “School Of Rock“, 100.7 relaunched as “Classic Rock 100.7 WRDU“.
Concurrently “Rush Radio 106.1” WRDU rebranded as “106.1 FM WTKK“.
Update 3/29: It appears the scenario we pegged earlier this week is going to happen. “100.7 The River” is running sweepers proclaiming that “The River has dried up” with more details to be announced Monday at 9am. Morning host Kitty Kinnen has exited the station.
Anonymous domain registrations were made yesterday for 1007WRDU.com and WRDU1007.com.
Original Report 3/27: Clear Channel Classic Rock “100.7 The River” WRVA-FM Wake Forest/Raleigh has claimed the WTKK call letters discarded last week by now “Hot 96.9” WBQT Boston.
We don’t expect 100.7 to be the final destination of the call letters. Clear Channel registered 1061FMTalk.com on Monday, which is currently pointing to the site of Cumulus’ “106.1 The Ticket” WMTI New Orleans to throw people off to its expected use. A call letter swap with sister Talk “Rush Radio 106.1” WRDU Knightdale would be the most likely scenario keeping the heritage WRDU calls in the market and removing the reliance on the Rush Limbaugh brand from 106.1.
