After just seven months with its Sports format, Radio-One’s “100.3 The Fan” WCFN Cincinnati heads back to Urban Oldies at 12pm today.
The station, which had been branded as “Mojo 100.3” until it began stunting last November, will become the newest convert to Radio-One’s “Old School” branding. WCFN is promoting itself as playing “back in the day jams from the 70s, 80s and 90s” and featuring core artists Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Rick James, and Whitney Houston.
The Tom Joyner Morning Show, which the station carried in its previous “Mojo” incarnation will return to the station from sister Urban Talk 1230 WDBZ.
WCFN debuted on January 2 with programming from CBS Sports Radio. It has since added a local morning show hosted by Tom Gamble and an afternoon show hosted by Richard Skinner, but failed in its early days to make any inroads in the market. In the June PPM monthly, The Fan registered a 0.1 share of the Cincinnati radio audience.
