Just awhile back, The FCC granted Northwestern College a construction permit for K233BI, with a parent station as KNWS-FM, licensed to Muscatine, Iowa. We already have KTDC-LP 105.3, which airs EWTN Catholic Radio programming, this is getting OLD.

KWNS's format is totally the opposite of Catholic Radio EWTN...

It's like compairing a Country station to the Urban Rap station..

Washington has some very good low power stations. They are not all religious. My own station is KSER, Everett. We are the little guys, with no school, and not much government funding. It may not be the FCCs fault there are religious stations. Listeners need to listen, and contribute to thier favorite LPFM station for them to stay in business.

In New Jersey, Facility 134675 was granted a construction permit this month, despite the move-in of Class A WBBO on the same frequency, about 3 miles away. WBBO is already on the air as "licensed".

On February 12, the FCC dismissed four LPFM applications for an LP-100 station on 104.5 mHz. Applicants in Auburn, Federal Way and Maple Valley all had their applications dismissed after having sat over 2100 days since their filing. Presumably, they were dismissed as a result of the impending KMCQ move from The Dalles, OR to Covington, WA.

If you go to recnet.com and look at the stats, most LPFM's took about four years to go through the FCC process. The licensing process should be a lot more streamlined since the engineering of LPFM's is simple compared to high power FM's. For the most part, the tower height is simple: 100 feet. There are some variations, but the calculations are spelled out. The transmitter, itself, is virtually an appliance.

I agree, I don't know why it takes so long, other than that the FCC isn't in love with LPFM.
