After being in the radio business for twenty five years (1982-2007) I have seen it all. From the days when jocks could speak freely on the air and not have to read verbatim stupid image liners like, "We're your #1 at work radio station" or better yet " Thanks for
making us Arbitron rated #1" Why not just hire walking , talking robots.
How about tweeking morning shows here and there and messing with the comedic content and then if the talent doesn't conform just blow out the whole morning show and pipe in Imus or Tom Joyner. Voicetracking every daypart from middays to overnights to most of the weekend and sometimes morning drive on holidays. All due to budget cutbacks. It's gotten totally ridiculous.
Don't think the listener doesn't realize it. All the more reason to buy an I-Pod.

It wouldn't make sense for CBS to simulcast the new WBZ-FM on any of its Hartford stations because the whole Hartford Cluster is for sale.

I'm going to toss something out for those in Connecticut to discuss.

I have a "funny feeling"---and that's all it is---that the new all-sports WBZ-98.5 (to debut in Boston on August 13th) could end-up getting simulcast in Hartford on one of CBS Radio's local outlets (probably WTIC-96.5).

There are a few reasons why this could occur:

(1) CBS could move U/Conn football and men's/women's basketball to 96.5, which along with Patriots' and Bruins' games (although several games of the latter would probably be on a delayed-broadcast basis to accomodate U/Conn hoop), could make 96.5 quite successful.

(2) Boston Red Sox baseball games could also end up moving from AM to FM, which would again make the station quite successful.

But Entercom owns WEEI-850 Boston and a regional network that syndicates it's programming to several other stations in the region (some Entercom-owned; some not). Would Entercom want to have Red Sox games in Hartford be on a station that, except for the Sox and U/Conn, simulcast it's Bsoton rival??

And also, would Entercom even keep one of CBS Rasdio's Hartford stations as a Sox affiliate?? They might eventually demand of stations that want the Sox (or Celtics) that that have to become a WEEI affiliate or they won't get the games.

(3) CBS could cut costs by getting rid of the 96.5 airstaff and (except for U/Conn games and the Red Sox if they can move them to FM) use 96.5 as a simulcast of "Boston's Sports Hub".

What do you think??

I can't believe CBS will re-sign Gary Craig at TIC-FM. His unfunny bits are older than his mother.

Nothing in life should lead to this. JAY MIX who was a former MIX SHOW DJ on HOT 93.7 and previously at the now-defunct JAMZ 910 killed his girlfriend and himself Wednesday morning in Meriden.
They've been using them for a couple months now. It's been great hearing jingles on there again after them not having any at all for several years.

I was driving up the Parkway (Garden State), and caught what sounded like a resing of the JAM "Home Of The Hits" on 102.9, but didnt hear the "DRC-FM" as WMGK decided to bleed in over the DX'ed signal.

How long ago did DRC-FM get new jingles? I love their PAMS resings, and their versions of the "Do It Again" package.

I feel bad for what happened to the station, but that is really an amazing picture. Meanwhile it seems like we've seen more than our share of lightning this year in CT.
