From the days when jocks could speak freely on the air and not have to read verbatim stupid image liners like, &quot;We&#39;re your #1 at work radio station&quot; or better yet &quot; Thanks for<br /> making us Arbitron rated #1&quot; Why not just hire walking , talking robots.<br /> How about tweeking morning shows here and there and messing with the comedic content and then if the talent doesn&#39;t conform just blow out the whole morning show and pipe in Imus or Tom Joyner. Voicetracking every daypart from middays to overnights to most of the weekend and sometimes morning drive on holidays. All due to budget cutbacks. It&#39;s gotten totally ridiculous.<br /> Don&#39;t think the listener doesn&#39;t realize it. All the more reason to buy an I-Pod. </p> http://radioinsight.com/boards/topic/17974#post-73489 Sun, 09 Aug 2009 20:02:04 +0000 marc82 73489@http://radioinsight.com/boards/ <p>It wouldn&#39;t make sense for CBS to simulcast the new WBZ-FM on any of its Hartford stations because the whole Hartford Cluster is for sale. </p> http://radioinsight.com/boards/topic/17974#post-73296 Thu, 16 Jul 2009 15:43:20 +0000 Joseph_Gallant 73296@http://radioinsight.com/boards/ <p>I&#39;m going to toss something out for those in Connecticut to discuss.</p> <p>I have a &quot;funny feeling&quot;---and that&#39;s all it is---that the new all-sports WBZ-98.5 (to debut in Boston on August 13th) could end-up getting simulcast in Hartford on one of CBS Radio&#39;s local outlets (probably WTIC-96.5).</p> <p>There are a few reasons why this could occur:</p> <p>(1) CBS could move U/Conn football and men&#39;s/women&#39;s basketball to 96.5, which along with Patriots&#39; and Bruins&#39; games (although several games of the latter would probably be on a delayed-broadcast basis to accomodate U/Conn hoop), could make 96.5 quite successful.</p> <p>(2) Boston Red Sox baseball games could also end up moving from AM to FM, which would again make the station quite successful.</p> <p>But Entercom owns WEEI-850 Boston and a regional network that syndicates it&#39;s programming to several other stations in the region (some Entercom-owned; some not). Would Entercom want to have Red Sox games in Hartford be on a station that, except for the Sox and U/Conn, simulcast it&#39;s Bsoton rival??</p> <p>And also, would Entercom even keep one of CBS Rasdio&#39;s Hartford stations as a Sox affiliate??
