I used to have a Rodie XM in my car then I bought a new Ford and it came with a built in Sirius with free subscription. I took out my XM but now after a week I noticed XM is so much better than Sirius especially with the Classic Country Channel, Willies Place and Americana is way deeper than Roadhouse the Rock and oldies outlets are better also....now they put AC/DC on the punk channel...what do you all think...

Even though it's not yet mentioned on either the XM board or the Sirius board, I'm sure you've all heard about the FCC approval of the XM-Sirius merger this week.

I know that many of the people on this board are satellite radio fans because local radio sucks, but that doesn't mean they necessarily approve of the merger.

Here's my opinion, the latest addition to the South Florida Radio Pages: FCC Approves XM-Sirius Merger: Consumers Shafted.

I just cancelled my XM subscription because it sounds like you're listening to radio in a tin can.
I love satellite radio but it sounds like crap.
I have found lot's of internet stations that sound better.
They need to improve the sound quality to attact more listeners.

But the difference is, while driving, I can't listen to Internet radio. And unfortunatley in this day of ipods and other crappy mp3 play back devices, sound quality is at the bottom of the majority of the listener's lists. XM's strength will be the quantitiy and quality of programming, not sound quality. I agree that FM sounds better than XM, and FM HD sounds leaps and bounds better than XM, however, like in this area, your choice for FM programming is , well, lame. XM is a nice alternative to that.

Maybe the lack of coverage is because of concern that this was a stunt as opposed to something that was real. That's going overboard if it was a stunt, but it's probably harder to get mainstream media/local media attention for a satellite radio show then terrestrial radio.

thank you! for the reply.
that is interesting, about the divide
of "group 1/and group 2"

also: i had to replace an attenna(?sp)
so I do like to keep it in a safe, dry place.
(also: this car kit i have)is a bigger bulky
one,(forget the model #)but, it is cool because
i can take it w/me, so i dont have to purchase
the "home kit" just turn it on, and then have
a boombox - set the preset dial/frequencey,
(it was 106.9,now 107.5)...it is cheaper to do
this..for the few times, i bring xM to the beach,
or camping.....or just want to listen to it, indoors.
(heck, not my car : ) usually the company van, or my
friend's battery....lol.

but,
thank you again!!!
