According to the article, her contact was up and I wouldn't be surprised if WLTW either gave her a lowball offer or decided not to renew her deal at all.<br /> <br /> After all, Smaldone is the latest in a string of several veteran WLTW announcers to have left the station in the last year or so, and I think Smaldone's departure is a cost-cutting move. After all, Smaldone is working in the number-one market and I suspect her mid-day show has been the top-rated music program in that timeslot (either in total listeners and/or in WLTW's target demo) for most of Smaldone's 24 years there.<br /> <br /> And that could mean she was paid more than perhaps any other mid-day air personality in the country.<br /> <br /> As much as I hate to say this, I think V.
