LinoNYC on "WBLI 106.1 FM Jim Driscoll & TJ Cassidy 1974"

Thanks for this sample of LI radio. Sounds like early '74. I also get a snippet of WCBS-fm at around the 33:00 mark.

Interestingly, it seems that WBLI's format was essentially the same as WCBS in that it was primarily;y oldies based with some current each hour. They didn't call it "future gold" as WCBS and the emphasis seemed more 60s while WCBS was more late 50s, but the approach seems similar.

This 60 minute reel tape starts out with Jim Driscoll and then TJ Cassidy back in 1974
on WBLI FM N.Y. This is a stereo FM station but I recorded it in mono.
Finding this tape was a total fluke!

I remember Joe well. He used to have a contest segment where the winner would name any song and he put it on a cassette and mail it to them.

It's a shame WHAS has gone from local content to syn dication but it's the way of the broadcast-world, in the 21st century. Only a select few can do radio, the way it used to be.
