Translator Sales University of Northwestern-St. Paul is selling a pair of translators to Beasley Media Group for $200,000. $150,000 is allocated towards 106.5 W293CK Clearwater, FL which will rebroadcast Business “Moneytalk 1010” WHFS Seffner/Tampa. $50,000 goes towards 104.3 W282BY Fort Myers, which will be used to rebroadcast “ESPN Deportes 770” WJBX North Fort Myers. iHeartMedia purchases 96.3 W242BF Springfield, FL from Way Media for $75,000. W242BF will be used to rebroadcast “Fox Sports 590” WDIZ Panama City. Zimmer Radio purchases the CP for 106.5 K293BW Columbia, MO from Radio Assist Ministry for $50,000. Bible Broadcasting Acquires KXOT Seattle

Public Radio Capital is selling 91.7 KXOT Tacoma/Seattle to Bible Broadcasting Network for $2.4 million. PRC has been seeking an operator for KXOT for a few years now. From 2006 until July 2012 KXOT was operated by the University Of Washington as KUOW2, a secondary service of their 94.9 KUOW-FM Seattle. After a period off-the-air, KXOT has simulcast the audio of cable public affairs network TVW, a local equivalent of C-SPAN since the start of 2013. Cumulus intends to file an application to relocate the translator closer to Lexington where it will rebroadcast News/Talk 590 WVLK Lexington. CBL Investments is selling Classic Hits 98.9 KRQX-FM Hurricane/St. George, UT to Craig Hanson’s Redrock Broadcasting for $250,000. Hanson, the former President of Simmons Media currently operates KRQX via LMA and owns Hot AC “Mix 103.1” KURR Hildale in the St. George market. Richard Witkovski’s North Texas Radio Group is acquiring Classic Country 1550 KMAD Madill, OK from Keystone Broadcasting for $40,000. WTJU Adds Richmond Rimshot

The University of Virginia’s 91.1 WTJU Charlottesville, VA will begin operating Fifth Estate Broadcasting’s Full Service Talk 1430 WHAN/102.9 W275BQ Ashland, VA via LMA on Sunday, February 1. The start of the LMA will commence with a flip of WHAN/W275BQ to a simulcast of WTJU’s programming. WTJU airs a diverse format consisting of blocks of Classical, Jazz, Blues, Rock, and some PRX programming. StyleWeekly.com reports that WTJU is in negotiations to allow Virginia Commonwealth University’s student-run webcaster WVCW.org to broadcast on WHAN/W275BQ from 6pm-1am daily. The University of Virginia also has signed an option to buy the stations if it desires at a later date.

Radio Disney Sells Off Charlotte

The sell-off of Radio Disney’s properties continues as a buyer has been found for 1480 WGFY Charlotte, NC. Charlotte Advent Media Corporation will purchase WGFY for $600,000. The new buyer is a non-profit run by President Bryan Aalborg. He serves as Lead Pastor at the Charlotte Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church in Charlotte.

Ann Jones’ Peach Holdings is making a pair of acquisitions as it purchases Great South Wireless’ Classic Hits 97.7 WHPH Jemison, AL for $1.6 million and 99.1 W256CD Fultondale/Birmingham from Shelby Broadcast Associates for $300,000. Mary Guthrie is selling the CP for 96.7 K244EX Las Vegas to Windy City Broadcasting for $25,000. Guthrie will file an application to modify the currently licensed 4.5 watt signal within the next 30 days. Christopher Falletti sells his CP for 98.5 in Battle Mountain, NV to Fred Weinberg and Floyd Brown’s Nevada Radio LLC for $11,100. The Class C2 signal will serve the area west of Elko. Alpha Acquires California Trio

Alpha Media will pay Coast Radio Group $11,150,000 for their three stations. All three stations are being considered to be part of the San Francisco market, something to keep in mind for future expansion by Alpha. Original Report 1/20: Alpha Media has acquired Coast Radio Group’s three stations between San Francisco and Sacramento. The three stations all air Adult Contemporary formats with identical “Your Hometown Station” positioning. 92.1 KKDV Walnut Creek serves the Diablo Valley east of Oakland. 95.3 KUIC Vacaville covers the area stretching from the Napa Valley over to the western suburbs of Sacramento. 101.7 KKIQ Livermore serves the bulk of the East Bay south of Oakland. WFDF Detroit Joins The Word Network

The Word Network has closed on its purchase of 910 WFDF and has flipped the station to Gospel/Preaching as “The Word Network Radio“. Original Report 11/18: Radio Disney has announced the sale of another one of their remaining stations. 910 WFDF Farmington Hills/Detroit will be transferred to Adell Broadcasting’s The Word Network for $3 million. Run by Kevin Adell, The Word Network operates an Urban Gospel based television network carried on TV subchannels and on cable. The company also owns independent WADL-TV 38. WFDF operates with 50kW daytime and 25kW nightime power.

Open Sky Radio Corp. purchases “Radio Free Nevada” 89.1 KXNV Sun Valley/Reno from Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada for $1. Jeffrey K. Haines sells AC “Fox 107.7” WFXX Georgiana, AL to Jeremy and Sarah Wolff’s Fox Broadcasting Corporation for $600,000. Impact Radio Group adds a pair of Boise area translator Construction Permits. EMF Acquires Positive FM

Educational Media Foundation has acquired Bethesda Christian Broadcasting’s 89.3 WMSJ Freeport, ME and 99.9 W260AS Lawrence, MA for $925,000. The pair currently operate as Christian AC “Positive FM” with WMSJ serving the Portland, ME market and W260AS some of Boston’s northern suburbs. Following the closing of the acquisition the duo will be rolled into EMF’s “K-Love” Christian AC network. Bethesda Christian Broadcasting sold its two Sturgeon Bay, WI stations to EMF in 2013. The company still operates five stations in North Dakota.

Disney Sells WWMK Cleveland

Radio Disney continues its selloff with the divestiture of 1260 WWMK Cleveland to St. Peter The Rock Media for $895,000. St. Peter The Rock will flip WWMK to Catholic programming as “1260 The Rock“. There is some common ownership with “St. Gabriel Radio” 820 WVSG Columbus. Greg Guy of Patrick Communications served as media broker for the buyer. Bill Schutz of Schutz & Company represented the seller.

Station Sales Continental Broadcast Group is converting their LMA of Spanish CHR “Exitos 1590” WNTS Beech Grove/Indianapolis into a purchase for $950,000. Continental has operated WNTS via Time Brokerage Agreement from Davidson Media since October 2013. Continental owns Regional Mexican “Radio Latina 107.1” WEDJ Danville and Spanish Christian “Pescador 810” WSYW Indianapolis. Jimmy Johnson’s Brunswick County Broadcasting reacquires News/Talk 105.5 WVNC Lawrenceville, VA from Imperial Broadcasting Company for forgiveness of $179,100 in debt. The buyer has begun operating the station via TBA. Justin Dixon is acquiring an additional 2% of shares in 1250 KBTC and “Big Country 99.3 The Rooster” KUNQ Houston, MO from Amy Vermillion for $408. ...Read More
