Long Point Communications is purchasing the assets of Finger Lakes Radio Group out of a bankruptcy auction for $3.375 million. Long Point is a partnership of Bruce Danziger and Eric Sivertsen. Danziger owns stations in Pittsfield, MA under the Gamma and Berkshire Broadcasting names, Burlington, VT under Vox AM/FM, and Marion and Kokomo, IN as Hoosier AM/FM. CBS will acquire five stations from Beasley: Country 92.5 WXTU and Rhythmic CHR “Wired 96.5” WRDW-FM Philadelphia along with Sports 560 WQAM, Rhythmic CHR “Power 96” WPOW-FM, and Country “99.9 Kiss Country” WKIS in Miami. Air Augustine has closed on its purchase of Hot AC 105.5 WYRE-FM St. Augustine, FL and has quickly flipped it to Adult Rock “105.5 The Whale“. The station is promoting “St. Augustine’s Quality Rock From The 70s To Now” and that it will be fully live and local. The ownership group behind Air Augustine is full of prior radio experience. The new ownership group is made up of three people with radio experience. David Mitchell will serve as President of the Company with a 55% share. Mitchell is based in the Charlottesville, VA region where he once owned 107.5 WUMX (Now News/Talk WCHV-FM). Joseph Riley, owner of four stations in the Albany, NY area holds a 30% stake. Former 98.7 KLUV Dallas Program Director Peter Zolnowski has 15% of the company.
iHeartMedia is adding another translator to its portfolio in the Minneapolis/St. Paul market. United Broadcasting System is selling 96.7 W244CS Hudson, WI to iHeartMedia for $300,000. The currently silent W244CS holds a Construction Permit to relocate its tower site to south of St. Paul with 71 watts at 101.5 meters (Coverage Map). iHeartMedia states its intent to rebroadcast 107.9 KQQL Anoka on the translator, perhaps to give Alternative “Alt 93.3” W227BF Shoreview/KQQL-HD2 additional coverage in the St. Paul side of the market.
iHeartMedia and the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a new multiyear agreement to renew their radio broadcast rights for the team’s games on 570 KLAC Los Angeles. The new agreement covers rights to all regular season and postseason games as well as select spring training games. KLAC will also continue to air “Dodger Talk” with Kevin Kennedy, David Vassegh and Jorge Jarrin before and after each game. KLAC and the Dodgers will work to collaborate on additional programming. Vin Scully intends to return in 2015 for his 66th season broadcasting the Dodgers. The first three innings he broadcasts are simulcast on radio and television before Charlie Steiner and Rick Monday takeover the rest of the radio broadcasts. Station Sales Scott Thompson’s BIG Radio acquires “Oldies 1490” WGEZ Beloit, WI from Alliance Communications for $150,000. WGEZ will join a local cluster including Talk “Big 1380” WTJK South Beloit, IL and Rock “105.9 The Hog” WWHG Evansville, WI. Mike Knar’s SOCO Radio is expanding its portfolio in Pueblo, CO. SOCO has agreed to begin operating United States CP’s Classic Hits “I25 Oldies” 94.7 KFVR-FM Beulah and Talk “I25 Talk” 690 KWRP Pueblo/93.9 K230BB Fowler/100.3 K262BB Boone via LMA. SOCO currently operates Soft AC “Easy 101.3” KFEZ Walsenburg, CHR “Power 103.3” Colorado City, Classic Country 780 KCEG Fountain, and Standards 890 KJME Fountain all via LMA. No word on the status of the current format have been included. KFVR-FM will lose its simulcast with 1530 KCMN Colorado Springs and KWRP will lose its simulcast with 1040 KCBR Monument/Colorado Springs as those two AMs were not included in the new lease with SOCO Radio.
Sea-Comm Media is selling 95.9 W240AS Wilmington, NC to Sunrise Broadcasting for $200,000. The original sale contract had the purchase price redacted as the agreement stated that Sunrise would amend the contract at a later date to acquire 103.7 WBNE Wrightsville Beach. The FCC filing states that the transfer of WBNE “may not occur for some time”. Sea-Comm currently leases WBNE to Davis Media who operates the station as News “Port City Radio“. The sale agreement states that Sea-Comm must give Davis Media 30 days notice before the sale will close. Davis had been leasing all of Sea-Comm’s stations before outright purchasing 93.7 WNTB Topsail Beach, 98.3 WUIN Oak Island, and 106.3 WUDE Bolivia earlier this year.
