A couple weeks ago we rounded up a number of format changes that took place under the radar. Since that report we’ve been tipped off to a number of additional changes.
Shortly after Point Broadcasting closed on its acquisition of Rock 99.1 KXFM Santa Maria CA on August 31, the station dropped its format and is currently running a jockless/commercial-free version of the Rhythmic Oldies “Old School” format it operates on 104.7 KOCP Oxnard and 104.7 KQIE Redlands/Riverside and a few other stations in Southern California.
Townsquare Media CHR “PopCrush 97.1” KKBR Billings MT relaunched in July as “97.1 Kiss-FM“.
Mountain Broadcasting debuted Oldies “Boomer 106.3” K292GH/KMSO-HD3 Missoula MT. The station is focusing on the 1960s and promoting one Beatles song per hour.
Curtis Media Variety Hits “98.3 Jack-FM” 1300 WSSG Goldsboro NC moved its translator to 92.7 W224DD Goldsboro as “92.7 Jack-FM“. That allowed sister News/Talk 1150 WGBR to reclaim the 98.3 W252CL Goldsboro translator that had rebroadcasted WGBR prior to the launch of Jack in August 2015.
Radio FM Media Sports “Fox Sports 1660” KQWB West Fargo ND relaunched as “Bison 1660” as part of a partnership with North Dakota State University. Jeff Culhane joined the station as Program Director, co-host of an 11am-1pm show with Jeremy Jorgenson, and play-by-play voice of North Dakota State Football and Men’s Basketball.
Ploener Radio Group Conservative Talk 1370 WFDR Manchester GA launched an FM translator on 97.3 W247CJ Machester and flipped to Classic Country “Legends 97.3“.
Sun Broadcasting Sports “97.3 The Fan” 1240 WFWN Fort Myers/1270 WNOG Naples/97.3 W247AQ Tropical Gulf Acres FL rebranded as “Fox Sports FM” as WFWN changed call letters to WFSX.
Deane Brothers Broadcasting AC 97.3 WJDF Orange MA flipped to Classic Rock.
Siga Broadcasting’s 870 KFJZ Fort Worth TX dropped its brokered South Asian programming for the BizTalkRadio network.
Finally, two new stations have come on-air with Christmas Music filler. Radio Beam LLC’s 93.3 KEUB Seaside/Astoria OR is carrying the holiday programming since earlier this month, while William McCutcheon’s 103.5 KBJX Mertzon/San Angelo TX is operating as “Frosty 103.5“.
