HeartMedia has promoted Rob Scorpio to Senior Vice President of Programming for the San Diego/Riverside region.
Scorpio had been serving as VP/Programming for the company’s six stations in Riverside as well as Program Director of Rhythmic CHR’s “Jam’n 95.7” KSSX Carlsbad/San Diego and 99.1 KGGI Riverside. He will now add oversight of the company’s San Diego stations, but step down as Program Director of KGGI. Scorpio joined iHeartMedia in 2013 after a long career that has also included programming stops at KBXX Houston, KKBT Los Angeles, and WPGC Washington DC.
Succeeding Scorpio as KGGI Program Director is Kid Jay. Jay has been with KGGI since 2003 and had been serving as Music Director/Night host at the station. He also serves as a club and concert DJ.
iHeartMedia announced today that Rob Scorpio has been named Senior Vice President of Programming for the San Diego/Riverside region, and that Kid Jay has been named Program Director of KGGI-FM in Riverside, effective immediately. iHeartMedia’s San Diego/Riverside region has a strong cross-platform presence, massive consumer reach and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises – both broadcast and digital, encompassing 13 radio stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
Currently, Scorpio oversees iHeartRadio’s six stations in Riverside/San Bernadino, while also acting as program director of KSSX-FM in San Diego and KGGI-FM in Riverside. In his newly expanded role, Scorpio will now oversee both markets, working closely with the programming, digital and promotion teams to develop and execute strategies that increase audience and ratings.

Scorpio brings more than 15 years of radio industry experience to his new position. As Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Riverside/San Bernadino region, he managed multiple formats including CHR, Rock, Spanish, News-Talk and Sports. Prior to joining iHeartMedia in 2013, Scorpio worked as a media consultant and served as Operations Manager in Washington DC, and Vice President of Programming in Los Angeles, CA for various radio groups. Scorpio has also programmed top stations in Washington DC, Los Angeles, CA and Houston, TX.

Kid Jay, has enjoyed a successful career as a professional club and concert DJ. He joined KGGI-FM in 2003 and is currently the station’s nighttime host. Kid Jay will continue his on-air role at KGGI-FM while also assuming day-to-day programming operations of the station, which is a consistent ratings leader for the Riverside-San Bernadino market.
