FCC Rulings
Educational Media Foundation’s application for review of the grant of Razorcake/Gorsky Press’ LPFM on 92.7 in Pasadena CA has been dismissed. EMF argued that the LPFM would create interference to its 92.7 KYLA Fountain Valley and it should not have been qualified for a second-adjacent interference waiver as it did not include co-channel interference in its filing.
The FCC has denied WJBW Inc’s petition to review a decision regrading the deletion of 104.5 W283AM Arcadia FL. WJBW sought to move W283AM to 104.7 in Jupiter FL rebroadcasting their 1000 WJBW Jupiter/West Palm Beach after purchasing it and another translator from Azure Media in November 2015. With its Silent STA set to expire on February 2, 2016 the company filed an STA to operate from a temporary facility the day prior just two hours before the license was to expire. However, because it operated from that facility without FCC approval the agency considered the station’s license expired for not operating within licensed parameters for 365 consecutive days.
The agency also denied Immaculate Conception Apostolic School petition for review for the reinstatement of its CP for 91.9 KJPT Colfax CA following the FCC’s grant of Viva Worth Vivir’s Petition for Reconsideration after showing the FCC that the school had closed and was no longer operating as a local business. The petition for review did not discuss the merits of its dismissal, but rather just wanted the new Trump administration to overrule what it claimed was that the “Obama administration has been disposed to infringe upon the rights of American citizens who adhere to the Roman Catholic religion”.
