A number of changes are taking place in Amarillo TX as Tejas Broadcasting announces the sale of two stations.
Tejas sells Hot AC “Fun 99.7” KBXD Amarillo to Grace Community Church of Amarillo for $400,000. Grace owns Christian AC “Radio By Grace” KRBG Umbarger and a network of translators in the Texas Panhandle and Eastern New Mexico.
Meanwhile Regional Mexican “La Caliente 104.3” KQFX Borger goes to Viva Media for $650,000. As mentioned below the previous format has moved to 1310 KZIP Amarillo as Viva has begun operating the station with a “Wheel of Formats” stunt. Viva Media owns Regional Mexican “La Poderosa 96.1” KBEX Dalhart and operates 105.1 KAMT Channing TX via LMA.
Tejas Broadcasting retains Sports “ESPN 1010” KTNZ Amarillo and 1310 KZIP.
Viva Media, LLC has agreed to purchase radio station KQFX-FM licensed to Borger, Texas and serving the Amarillo market, from Tejas Broadcasting, Limited. The Buyer is headed by Maria Ceniceros and has additional Texas broadcast interests. The Seller is headed by James Anderson, CEO and has additional broadcast interests in Texas and New Mexico. The purchase price is 650,000.*
Grace Community Church of Amarillo has agreed to purchase KBZD-FM serving the Amarillo, Texas market from Tejas Broadcasting, Limited. The Buyer is headed by Bill Gehm, President. The Seller is headed by James Anderson, CEO and has additional broadcast interests in Texas and New Mexico. The purchase price is 400,000.*
Bill Whitley of the Dallas office and George Reed of the Jacksonville office of Media Services Group served as the exclusive brokers representing the Seller. Dave Garland Brokerage represented the Buyer.
Original Report 10:00am: Tejas Broadcasting has moved Regional Mexican “La Caliente 104.3” KQFX Borger to 1310 KZIP displacing Spanish Oldies “Recuerdo 1310“. KQFX is now stunting with a “Wheel of Formats” style stunt as it has been LMA’d to another operator. In its social media announcement regarding the frequency change, Tejas makes the move to 1310 out to be temporary.
Another station has also began stunting as Viva Media’s 105.1 KAMT Channing is currently running an automated Country loop in preparation of debuting a new format. Across town, Townsquare Media CHR “96.9 Kiss-FM” KXSS-FM has picked up the syndicated Brooke & Jubal show for mornings to replace Tommy The Hacker, who exited last month.
