Translator Sales
Hubbard Broadcasting is purchasing 92.7 K224CJ Phoenix AZ from Happy Dog Communications for $1.8 million. Should the deal close it will set a record for highest price for a single translator as Elroy Smith’s $4.6 million deal for a Chicago translator and Big Apple Broadcasting’s $3.5 million deal in New York both collapsed prior to closing. Hubbard already operates K224CJ as “Oldies 92.7” rebroadcasting 1440 KAZG Scottsdale via 93.3 KDKB-HD2 Mesa.
Jaemin and Hyunjoo Chang purchase 95.3 K237FL Woodlake CA from Rudex Broadcasting for $150,000. K237FL holds a CP to relocate to 106.3 in Los Angeles where it will rebroadcast HK Media Korean “Radio Seoul 1650” KFOX Torrence.
SummitMedia is swapping 102.1 W271BN Birmingham AL to Educational Media Foundation for 107.3 W297BF Birmingham. As reported earlier this week, the deal has led to the demise of Soft AC “Easy 102.1” as W271BN is now carrying EMF’s “Air 1” Christian CHR network via 104.7 WZZK-HD2. Summit was already operating W297BF as AAA “Birmingham Mountain Radio” via 97.3 WPYA-HD2.
Spanish American Civic Association For Equality sells the CP for 99.3 W257DI Reading PA to Major Keystone LLC for $15,000. W257DI will rebroadcast an HD subchannel of Cumulus’ 100.7 WLEV Allentown PA.
Agape Communications acquires 94.1 K231AY Emporia KS from My Town Media for $42,000. K231AY has a CP to relocate to Wichita to rebroadcast Agape’s Christian Preaching/Standards 900 KSGL Wichita.
Calvary Chapel of Fredericksburg acquires 94.1 W231BJ Fredericksburg VA from Liberty University for $55,000 to rebroadcast 102.7 WLMP-LP Fredericksburg.
Vic Michael is swapping assets between two of his holding companies. Cedar Cove Broadcasting will receive 88.7 K204GN Cedar Cove, 90.9 K215FM Fort Collins, and 100.7 K264AG Dillon CO, while Mountain Community translators adds 105.3 K287BX Mesa AZ, 103.9 K280EQ Fort Morgan CO, 101.9 K270CM Pueblo CO, 89.9 K210EC Douglas WY, 97.5 K248CZ Cheyenne WY, and 101.1 K266CC Cheyenne WY.
Station Sales
American General Media intends to donate Classical 95.5 KHFM Santa Fe/Albuquerque NM to the newly created American General Media Foundation. Contingent with approval and closing of the deal, KHFM will convert to non-commercial status.
Vic Michael’s Kona Coast Radio is purchasing Cumulus Media’s 1320 KFNZ Salt Lake City for $100,000. Cumulus took KFNZ silent in February after agreeing to sell the station’s tower site.
Red Rock Radio completes its sell-off with the divesture of 1340 KRBT Eveleth MN to Dennis and Janelle Yourczek’s Range Broadcasting for $20,000.
Fiorini Broadcasting acquires 1530 WENG Englewood FL from Kenneth Kuenzie’s Viper Communications for $375,000 and 107.5 W298AV Englewood FL from Kuenzie himself for $125,000. Fiorini owns 1480 WFLN Arcadia FL.
Gary Ware and Jim Turvaville’s Route 66 Media purchases the CP’s for new stations on 98.3 Guthrie and 104.5 Memphis TX from William Doerner for $10,000.
HB Radio LLC sells AC “Y100.5” WFYE Glade Spring VA to Awaken FM Inc. for $275,000. The buyer owns Southern Gospel 690 WZAP Bristol VA.
I wonder if American General Media plans to acquire another station in Albuquerque to offset the loss of 95.5 to the aforementioned non-commercial broadcaster.
This is kind of a surprise with respect to KHFM. Considering the signal I would have long expected a flip to some other format. However, I am not sure how a non-comm classical in ABQ is going to be able finance the operation.
