Virginia Tech Foundation is planning a revamp of its two public radio services on Monday, July 10.
Its primary WVTF service will be relaunched as “WVTF Music” as it hands all News programming to “Radio IQ“. Concurrently, the Radio IQ service will be upgraded to the full-powered 89.1 WVTF Roanoke, while the music service moves to WVTF-HD2 and 89.5 W208BX Roanoke.
The networks will also swap frequencies in other markets across Virginia. 1260 WWVT Christiansburg/95.5 W238BN Blacksburg will switch from Radio IQ to WVTF Music. 91.9 WVTR Marion VA will switch to Radio IQ. The networks will not change locations in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Lexington, and Richmond.
WVTF Music’s new lineup will feature Classical Music from 12am to 8pm weekdays with Jazz programming at night. Other genres of music including Opera, Americana, and Bluegrass will be heard on weekends including A Prairie Home Companion and eTown. RadioIQ will continue to feature a 24/7 News/Talk lineup.
