Lazer has filed its acquisition of Active Rock “Z105.3” KZTI Fallon Station, CHR “106.3 Pop-FM” KWNZ Lovelock, and Conservative Talk “107.3 K-News” KNEZ Hazen NV with the FCC.
Lazer will pay $425,000 for the three stations and will begin operating the three stations via LMA today.
Update 8/3: Bighorn Media has completed the flip of 104.1 KRZQ Fallon/Reno NV to Soft Oldies “Easy 104.1” KUEZ. Shamrock has parked the KRZQ call letters on the former 105.9 KZNV Amargosa Valley NV, which holds a CP to move to 106.1 where it will rimshot into Las Vegas.
Shamrock has also announced the sale of the remainder of its Reno cluster to Lazer Broadcasting (and not Entravision as we incorrectly noted below). Active Rock “Z105.3” KZTI Fallon Station, CHR “106.3 Pop-FM” KWNZ Lovelock, and Conservative Talk “107.3 K-News” KNEZ Hazen NV will join Regional Mexican “107.7 Radio Lazer” KSRN Kings Beach/Reno in Lazer’s Reno cluster. Unlike KUEZ, no LMA is connected to Lazer’s acquisition.
Original Report 7/28: Following Shamrock Communication’s of Alternative 104.1 KRZQ Fallon/Reno NV to John Burkavage’s Bighorn Media last week, the station will flip to Soft Oldies “Easy 104.1” KUEZ on August 1.
The new “Easy 104.1” profile describes the station as “a NEW, locally owned and operated, easy listening station that brings you the very best music from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s!”.
While not announced publicly yet, the remainder of Shamrock’s Reno cluster will be going to Entravision, who currently owns Regional Mexican “102.1 La Tricolor” KRNV-FM Reno and three television stations in the market. Entravision will add Active Rock “Z105.3” KZTI Fallon Station, CHR “106.3 Pop-FM” KWNZ Lovelock, and Conservative Talk “107.3 K-News” KNEZ Hazen NV. All three stations have deleted their websites and social media profiles.
Shamrock built its Reno cluster from scratch in 2012 and 2013 as it launched all four stations as new-to-air launches.
Ahead of the change KRZQ PD/Afternoon host Chris Payne has exited the company. Payne also hosted mornings on KZTI.
