Cal State University-Northridge AAA 88.5 KCSN Northridge/Los Angeles and Saddleback College Jazz 88.5 KSBR Mission Viejo CA will begin simulcasting on Tuesday, September 12 at 10:00am as “88.5 FM“.
The combined stations will take on KCSN’s AAA format, while the HD2’s will carry a Smooth Jazz format consisting of much of KSBR’s current programming and KCSN-HD2’s Latin Alternative programming will move to HD3 on both signals. KCSN GM/PD Sky Daniels and KSBR GM Jim Rondeau will serve as co-General Managers with Daniels as Program Director.
The “88.5 FM” programming will continue to consist of Nic Harcourt in mornings, Jim Nelson in middays, Daniels in afternoons, and WXPN Philadelphia’s World Cafe in evenings. Among the weekend hosts on the stations are former KROQ host Jed The Fish and former KSWD Los Angeles/WXRK New York host Julie Slater.
Hooray!!! I’m pleased that KCSN and KSBR are merging. I can listen to my favorite music without the awful co-channel interference – I would get frustrated and listen to KPCC (The Current from The Twin Cities on 89.3 HD2). I was a DJ on KSBR while in college in the early 90’s (Thanks, Terry Wedel)
