iHeartMedia has made its first change at News 1030 WBZ Boston.
As first reported by Northeast Radio Watch’s Scott Fybush, Peter Casey has exited his position as Director of News and Programming that he has held since 1996. Casey first joined WBZ in 1993 as Assistant Program Director before rising to his now former position. His entire career has been spent in Boston including two terms at 850 WHDH and time in television.
Current Assistant Program Director Bill Flaherty will serve as Interim Program Director.
Boston Radio Watch adds a portion of the memo sent out by iHeartMedia Boston SVP/Programming Dylan Sprague today, while Dan Kennedy includes the full version.
The Globe has a bit more…

I first heard part of this on the air, when an anchor gave a salute to Peter Casey, but didn’t mention why he left.
Until I came to Radio Insight.com, I had assumed that Casey was going to stay with the new Enetrcom and was being transferred elsewhere (come to think of it, he’d make a great news director for one of the all-news stations Entercom just bought in the acquisition of the CBS Radio stations).
