Midwest Communications has flipped Country “Q102.7” WDWQ Terre Haute IN to Classic Hits and its former WBOW call letters.
102.7 WBOW debuted at midnight with Orleans “Still The One”, Rod Stewart “Young Turks”, and Journey “Don’t Stop Believing”. Jay Cruz will remain in mornings following the format change. Former WBOW middayer Julie Henricks, who also serves as meteorologist at WTWO-TV, will return to the station for middays. Dan Stone, Brand Manager of sister Country WNCY Green Bay WI, will host afternoons at WBOW.
WDWQ was one of two Country stations in Midwest’s Terre Haute cluster following its acquisition of “Hi 99” 99.9 WTHI-FM in 2016. This will mark the second revitalization of the WBOW brand by Midwest in recent years. The calls had been on 102.7 with an AC format until Midwest acquired it in 2012. It then relaunched the station and AC format on 98.5 in April 2014 until it acquired the intellectual property of Classic Rock WWVR along with WTHI-FM.
The new Classic Hits format will position WBOW between DLC Media AC “Lite 92.7” WFNB and “True Oldies 104.9” WAXI-FM. We first reported on the 1027WBOW.com registration and reservation of the WBOW call letters in our 11/14 Daily Domains report.
