Legacy Communications has ended its LMA of AC “Sunny 93.5” KZTL Paxton and Rock “Rock 100” 100.7 KRNP Sutherland NE to Armada Media and has resumed operating the stations which serve the North Platte and Ogallala markets.
With the management change, Legacy immediately flipped KZTL to a gold based Country format branded as “Country 93.5“. The new format positions KZTL against Armada’s “KX 104” 103.5 KXNP North Platte.
KRNP will remain Active Rock however the station used the management change to stunt by calling out Armada’s management with a loop attacking it as saying that “Western Nebraska radio had been ruled by faceless corporations for years” and with “DJs that couldn’t find North Platte on a map”. The North Platte Telegraph reports that led to a backlash from former KRNP staffers and caused station manager Derek Beck to backtrack stating it was about when the station ran syndication around the local programming and thank every former staffer on the air.
