Saul Levine's Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters has registered LiteFMLA.com and LightFMLA.com for potential use at Country "Go Country 105.1" KKGO. Such a flip would give Los Angeles a second AC station for the first time since 100.3 KXEZ flipped to Rhythmic AC "B100" KIBB in August 1996. If such a move were to happen we're betting on Memorial Day Weekend at the earliest. KKGO announced earlier this week that country artist Dierks Bentley will be its midday host through Friday, May 25 continuing the station's tradition of having a different Country performer host middays each month. As Mount Wilson does have a history of constantly flipping their HD subchannels: currently Oldies (simulcasting 1260 KSUR) on HD2, Adult Standards on HD3, and Classic Country on HD4, why do we think this may be different? KKGO currently ranks 22nd in the Los Angeles market with a 2.0 share (26th in key 25-54 demo). Sources indicate the station's billing ranks even worse placing it 27th in the market for 2017. A flip to AC or Soft AC would position KKGO up against iHeart's market leading KOST and would also position the station up against Entercom's Classic Hits "K-Earth 101" KRTH and Rhythmic AC "94.7 The Wave" KTWV. The move would make Los Angeles the largest market without a Country station. [/membership]
