Impact Radio Group flipped Sports “ESPN Boise 99.1” K256CZ Boise/KQBL-HD2 to Active Rock “99.1 I-Rock” at 5pm today.
The new format creates a direct format competitor to Scripps’ “100.3 The X” KQXR and flanker to sister Alternative “96.5 The Alternative” K243BM. The station’s branding and format are identical to sister “105.1 I-Rock” K286CH/KYUN-HD2 Twin Falls ID.
The Sports format on K256CZ garnered a 0.6 share in the Fall 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings placing it behind Cumulus Media’s “93.1 The Ticket” KTIK-FM with a 2.0 share and Townsquare Media’s “630 The Fan” KFXD and its 0.7 share.
Program Director/Afternoon co-host Joey Jenkins will remain with the company in a yet to be announced position, while his co-host Alex Gold has exited the station.
