Former 92.5 KGBY Sacramento morning co-host Paul Robins is returning to the frequency to host afternoons on iHeartMedia’s recently launched Soft AC “92.5 The Breeze” KBEB.
Robins will debut on February 1 in partnership with William Jessup University where he currently oversees their Digital Communication and Design Bachelor of Arts programs. Robins will host his show from studios at the university while training students on broadcast and digital content for the station.
Robins co-hosted mornings at KGBY with Phil Cowan from 1987 through 2007 and exited as morning co-anchor for “Fox 40” KTXL Sacramento in November after a decade there.
KBEB has also announced the addition of Delilah for nights.
iHeartMedia Sacramento today announced that Paul Robins will join 92.5 The Breeze, Sacramento’s #1 For Relaxing Favorites at Work, as the weekday PM Drive Host, effective Friday, February 1.
92.5 The Breeze launched November 2018 and features a relaxing blend of music from artists including Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Adele, Whitney Houston, and Michael Bolton.
Robins, who now leads William Jessup University’s Digital Communication and Design Bachelor of Arts degree program, will host his show from the University’s studio while giving his students the opportunity to learn hands-on training with broadcast and digital content for 92.5 The Breeze.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that Paul has agreed to join 92.5 The Breeze,” said Curtiss Johnson, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Sacramento. “Nobody in Sacramento knows this music more than Paul Robins. He is a trusted and beloved personality and a downright institution in our city. I can’t wait for him to keep Sacramento relaxed on the drive home every workday.”
Robin’s broadcasting career in radio began in 1984 and included stints at stations in Sacramento, Detroit and Dallas. In addition, he has spent 20 years as half of “The Paul and Phil Show” on Y92/KGBY. Robins is a media veteran with an array of TV credits and awards that include being a regular contributor to the nationally syndicated “Evening Magazine,” The Discovery Channel’s “The Answer Guys” and “Next Step” as well as being the recipient of two Emmy Awards and a nominee for a CableAce Award. Most recently, Robins can be seen on PBS’s “America’s Heartland,” and just concluded more than ten years serving as the morning news anchor on FOX40 in Sacramento.
“Bringing Paul back to 92.5 The Breeze was my goal,” said Sara McClure, Market President for iHeartMedia Sacramento. “Securing Paul with a new-found collaboration with William Jessup University takes this move to a whole new level. We have so many endless possibilities for our future broadcasters with this cutting-edge educator.”
“William Jessup University is very excited to welcome Paul Robins to our faculty and team,” said Dr. John Jackson, President of William Jessup University. “Paul brings an amazing wealth of experience that elevates our Digital Media & Communication degree program within the marketplace. Further, our new, emerging collaboration with iHeartMedia is an added golden opportunity for Jessup graduates to impact culture with our shared positive vision for the future.”
Totally overlooked in the press release was Paul Robins and Phil Cowan’s very short stint hosting Fox’s ill-fated “Wilton North Report” back in 1988.
