Original Report 3/12: iHeartMedia has promoted Chadwick ‘AJ’ Hausknecht to Region Senior Vice President of Programming for the Virginia-Carolina region.
AJ will continue to oversee all day-to-day programming and digital content for the company’s Charlotte cluster but will step down as day-to-day Program Director of CHR “Hits 96.1” WHQC and Variety Hits “102.9 The Lake” WLKO. The region includes iHeartMedia’s operations in Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, Norfolk, Roanoke, and Winchester VA, Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh NC, and Greenville SC.
AJ joined iHeartMedia in 2012 as Senior Vice President of Programming overseeing the company’s Norfolk and Richmond VA stations and programming CHR “Q94” WRVQ and AC “Mix 98.1” WTVR-FM Richmond. He then transferred to St. Louis in July 2016 where he oversaw all programming for St. Louis and programmed CHR “Z107.7” KSLZ and Gospel “Hallelujah 1600” KATZ. He joined the Charlotte cluster in January 2018. He has also programmed CHRs 97.1 WBHT Wilkes-Barre, “Kiss 106.7” WKGS Rochester, and “Hot 107.9” WWHT Syracuse during his career.
iHeartMedia announced today that Chadwick “A.J.” Hausknecht has been named Region Senior Vice President of Programming for the Virginia-Carolina region, effective immediately. iHeartMedia has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than 50 stations comprised of music, talk and news formats in the Virginia-Carolina region.

As Region Senior Vice President of Programming, A.J. will be responsible for all day-to-day programming and digital operations for iHeartMedia Charlotte. In addition, A.J. will oversee on-air content, digital strategy, music programming and on-air personalities for the Virginia-Carolina region as well. He will report to Dave Carwile, Region President for iHeartMedia’s Virginia-Carolina region.

A.J. most recently served as the Program Director for HITS 96.1 and 102.9 The Lake in Charlotte. In addition, he previously served as the Region Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia’s St. Louis Region, Region Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Richmond and Norfolk, Program Director for HOT 107.9 in Syracuse, New York and KISS 106.7 in Rochester, New York. He began his career at WBHT in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
