iHeartMedia Alternative “Alt 106.3” KDXA Ankeny/Des Moines has promoted Alex Mac from MD/afternoon host to Assistant Program Director.
Mac will continue in those roles as well as hosting nights at “Alt 104.9” KLLT Columbia IL/St. Louis, duties he has held since coming to Des Moines in October 2017. In his new role he will take over full oversight of KDXA’s music and programming content, as well as its on-air personalities and digital extensions while continuing to report to Director of Alternative Rock Programming for iHeartMedia St. Louis Dustin Fletcher and Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Des Moines Greg Chance.
iHeartMedia announced today that Alex Mac has been named Assistant Program Director for ALT 106.3, Des Moines’ Alternative Rock. iHeartMedia Des Moines has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing eight stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Assistant Program Director for ALT 106.3, Mac will be responsible for the station’s music and programming content, as well as its on-air personalities and digital extensions. He will also continue to serve as the station’s Music Director as well as broadcast from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. as the station’s Afternoon Drive Host. Mac will report to Dustin Fletcher, Director of Alternative Rock Programming for iHeartMedia St. Louis and Greg Chance, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Des Moines.
“Alex has a bright programming future and has displayed all the characteristics of a great programmer,” said Chance. “We are excited to see him further develop his career.”
Prior to joining the iHeartMedia Des Moines market in October 2017, Mac served as evening host and promotions assistant for WRXL-FM in Richmond, Virginia, also where he began his career.
