After Univision’s flip of 107.5 KXTN to Rhythmic Hot AC, while moving the Tejano format to the former 1350 KCOR, a San Antonio rimshot is seeking to pickup the audience.
Lopez Broadcasting has flipped Spanish Christian 98.9 KLMO-FM Dilley TX to Tejano as “K-Alamo“. The station, which rimshots portions of the San Antonio market from the southwest, operates with 92kW/220m. Operator Carlos Lopez told the San Antonio Express News, “It’s time for us to pick up the torch and keep it going. We just wanted to help. It’s important and critical to preserve our culture. You have to have a Tejano station in San Antonio, it’s like if Nashville didn’t have a country station or if there wasn’t a salsa station in Miami.”
KLMO-FM joins 1350 KXTN and Claro Communications’ “Radio Jalapeño” 1540 KEDA/99.9 K260CC/102.3 K272EK in airing Tejano programming in San Antonio.
In reality just to clarify 102.3 K272EK doesn’t retransmit KEDA it retransmits 90.3 FM KYRQ with another Spanish Christian signal.
