Reading Eagle Company has found a buyer for the license of News/Talk 830 WEEU Reading PA in Twilight Broadcasting.
The Reading Eagle reports that Twilight Broadcasting will pay $88,500 as the highest of the four bidders received for the license of the station. The other bids included contingencies such as board of director approval and an audit of the station. The offers ranged from $19,000 to $50,000.
Twilight will begin operating WEEU via Time Brokerage Agreement on June 30 when the sale of the remainder of The Reading Eagle Company assets to MediaNews Group closes. The ownership has told listeners they intend to keep the current programming with minimal changes.
Original Report 6/20: Twilight, led by Robert Lowe, purchased “Fox Sports 1120” WKQW, AC 96.3 WKQW-FM, and the CP for 104.1 W281CA Oil City PA in November 2018. No terms were disclosed as the deal has yet to be finalized.
Twlight Broadcasting General Manager Todd Adkins told WEEU listeners, “This has been something that a lot of people in the community have been concerned over, whether or not WEEU had a future here in Reading, and we’re so excited to know that it’s going to continue on.”
The sale of WEEU follows the bankruptcy sale of the Reading Eagle Company to MediaNews Group. An auction was held for interested bidders of the station.
