The original July 15 announced date for the launch of Rhythmic CHR “Q92.1” KQKZ Bakersfield was delayed until Monday, July 22.
In addition to the “Greg & Dre” morning show, KQKZ will also feature the remainder of the KSEQ hosts including midday host Kimmie, afternoon host Danny Salas, and evening host Yo Boy Dub.
Update 7/11: When “Q92.1” debuts on Monday, it will Rhythmic CHR positioned as “Bakersfield’s Best Music”.
The station will simulcast the “Greg & Dre” morning show from co-owned “Q97.1” KSEQ Visalia/Fresno hosted by Greg Hoffman and Andre Covington. The duo joined KSEQ in 2013 after a long run together as “The Juice Crew” at Clear Channel Rhythmic CHR “B95” KBOS Fresno. Hoffman has programmed KSEQ since 2014 after holding the same duties at KBOS from 2004-2013.
Original Report 7/5: Lotus Communications will debut “Q92.1” KQKZ Bakersfield CA on Monday, July 15.
While not yet disclosing the format for the new station publicly, the logo matches that of sister Rhythmic CHR “Q97.1” KSEQ Visalia/Fresno. Such a move would make the station the fourth Rhythmic CHR in the market joining American General Media’s “Hot 94.1” KISV, Alpha Media’s “Energy 95.3” KLLY, and Farmworker Educational Radio’s “103.9 The Beat” KBDS.
92.1 is currently Ranchera “El Gallito” KCHJ-FM simulcasting 1010 KCHJ Delano, which will retain that format.
