The NAB/RAB Radio Show has announced it will present NRG Media CEO Mary Quass with the “National Radio Award” at its luncheon during the 2019 Radio Show on Wednesday, September 25.
NRG Media Chairman and CEO Mary Quass will receive the National Radio Award during the Radio Show luncheon program, “2020 and Beyond: Insights from the Top,” on Wednesday, September 25. The 2019 Radio Show, produced by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), will be held September 24-26 in Dallas, Texas.
“We are pleased to honor Mary Quass for her many achievements and impact on radio,” said NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith. “She is a true catalyst in our industry who exemplifies the meaning of the National Radio Award through her leadership, integrity and success.”
A 35-year veteran of the radio business, Quass formed New Radio Group in 2001. Later named NRG Media, the company currently operates 45 stations and their corresponding digital channels across the Midwest.
Quass began her radio career in 1977 as an account executive and purchased her first radio station in 1998, forming Quass Broadcasting Company (QBC). QBC became part of the publicly traded company Capstar Broadcasting, which eventually became a part of Clear Channel.
Throughout her career, Quass has been recognized for her contributions to the industry. She was awarded Broadcaster of the Year from the Iowa Broadcasters Association in 1994 and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1999. In 2014, she was honored by the Broadcasters Foundation of America with the Ward L. Quaal Leadership Award for her contributions to the broadcasting industry and community at large.
Quass has also received The Mentoring and Inspiring Women (MIW) Radio Group Frances Preston Trailblazer Award, which is presented annually to a woman who, through her leadership and success in the media industry, creates opportunities for other women in radio.
Alex Clark has resigned from her morning co-host position at Urban One CHR “Radio Now 100.9” WNOW-FM Speedway/Indianapolis IN and syndicated to “Radio Now 92.1” KROI Seabrook/Houston alongside Joe Pesh to join Conservative activism group Turning Point USA to create a pop culture and lifestyle show debuting this fall.
Clark has also co-hosted mornings and hosted middays at Alpha Media’s 99.7 WDJX Louisville prior to joining WNOW-FM in 2016 and was a contestant on the FOX dating show “Coupled”.
Nikki Thomas has exited as Program Director of Cumulus Country 107.7 WIVK Knoxville TN after three years at the station. Thomas joined WIVK in August 2016 after previously programming “Kat Country 103” KATM Modesto CA. Interested applicants for the WIVK position can apply here.

Townsquare Media Cheyenne/Laramie WY Operations Manager Don Harrison is joining Adams Radio as Brand Manager for Rock “93.5 The Beach” WZBH Millsboro DE and Classic Rock “Big 107.7” WGBG Fruitland MD.
Adams Radio of Delmarva has announced the appointment of Don Harrison as the new Brand Manager for its heritage rock stations in Salisbury-Ocean City, including Rock WZBH 93.5 The Beach and Classic Rock WGBG Big 107.7.
He’ll assume his new role on July 8. Harrison was most recently OM for Townsquare Media in Cheyenne and Laramie, WY. Prior to that, he served as Director of Rock Programming for Slacker and in 2005, Harrison became Program Director of WKBU-FM/New Orleans.
A Connecticut native, Harrison began his career as an air personality at Rock WHCN-FM/Hartford. He then moved to the legendary WBCN-FM/Boston where he won three Boston Achievement in Radio Awards and was the Executive Producer of New England Patriots Radio Network. After that, Harrison moved to California in 1999 and worked for Y107 in Los Angeles and programmed a Rock cluster in Northern California.

“101.9 The Bull” KQBL Emmett/Boise Program Director Chuck Reeves has exited to join LKCM Media Classic Country “92.1 Hank-FM” KTFW Glen Rose/Fort Worth TX as PD/afternoon host.
Reeves spent five years in Boise and has previously worked at KSAM Huntsville TX and at multiple outlets in Reno. He succeeds Mike ‘Crowman’ Crow who is focusing on his regionally syndicated “Sunday Morning Coming Down” Red Dirt Country/Christian show.
iHeartMedia Boston has announced the addition of Hisham Fayed as Director of Marketing.
iHeartMedia Boston announced today that Hisham Fayed has been named Director of Marketing, effective July 8. iHeartMedia Boston has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises, both broadcast and digital, encompassing eight stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
As Director of Marketing, Fayed will work closely with the promotions, events, sales and programming teams in developing and executing marketing plans for the Boston market’s iconic music brands including Kiss 108, JAM’N 94.5, 101.7 The Bull, 100.7 WZLX, and The New 97.7. He will oversee marketing efforts and identify opportunities to increase brand awareness and revenue. Fayed will report to Adam Ralston, Vice President of Marketing for iHeartMedia Boston.
“Hisham has a proven track record of impactful marketing campaign creation and execution in Boston,” said Ralston. “We are thrilled to add him to our superstar marketing team and we know he will contribute to our brands’ongoing success.”
With over ten years of brand management and marketing experience, Fayed is a Boston radio marketing veteran with stints at WTKK and WBQT, where he contributed to the launch of the latter. He began his career at WXRV and is a graduate of Franklin University.
