Minnesota Public Radio’s AAA “The Current” 89.3 KCMP Minneapolis has cut ties with morning co-host Brian Oake following a since-deleted Facebook rant after he and his daughter were kicked out of a concert.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Oake and his 20 year old daughter were booted from a Tenacious D concert in July because she was caught holding his alcoholic beverage. Oake had claimed that she was taking the remaining ice cubes out of the otherwise empty glass to keep cool. He had been off the air the following two weeks since making what was described as “an angry, expletive-ridden Facebook post”.
Oake joined Minnesota Public Radio in 2016 after previously working at iHeartMedia AAA “Cities 97.1” KTCZ and Alternative “Zone 105” and “Rev 105“. His co-host Jill Riley, who has been with the station since its 2005 launch, has also been off the air this week after being on vacation last week and references to both have been removed from the station’s morning show page.
In a statement shared with MPRNews, Minnesota Public Radio released the following comment:
“Brian Oake is no longer with The Current. We are grateful for his contributions over the past three years and we wish him all the best. We will keep our listeners updated on what’s next for the show.”
