Radio WEBS Inc. will sign-off Country “Kickin 103.5” 1030 WEBS/103.5 W278CD Calhoun GA on Sunday evening as the station has been foreclosed upon.
WEBS will cease operations at 6pm as a local bank takes over the station from owner Ken Payne. Payne told Coosa Valley News, “Due to circumstances beyond our control services to our community will come to an end on Sunday. I want to say a very special thank you to the wonderful staff that has worked with us for 39 years. Thanks also going out to the sponsors and loyal listeners. It has been a pleasure, honor and privilege to have served the public for these many years. We hope we have been able to come into your homes, automobiles and businesses by radio with programming that was entertaining and informative. Thank you again for being a part of WEBS 1030AM and Kickin’ 103.5FM.”
WEBS flipped from Classic Hits to Country in 2016 and resurrected the branding that had been on former sister station 94.5 WIPK Calhoun until its 2014 sale to Core Communicators.
Interestingly, low-powered WJRP 107.7 shares studios, transmission towers and EAS equipment with WEBS – WJRP’s principal owner has been a part of WEBS management – but it sounds like WJRP is still on the air as of right now (6:35pm on 8/18).
