Radio One has released its new schedule for Hip-Hop “97.9 The Beat” KBFB Dallas following the cancellation of the Veda Loca Morning Show earlier this week.
As expected, The Morning Hustle will be added in mornings from 5-9am. Host HeadKrack was one of the first personalities on KBFB following its flip to Hip Hop in 2000. Former Veda Loca co-host J-Kruz, will follow from 9am-12pm. Current midday host Lil D will have her shift shrunk to 12-3pm, while Jesse Salazar and P-Skillz remain in afternoons and nights.
Veda Loca posted a farewell message to her listeners as she confirmed her exit after 17 years at the station.
Original Report 1/8: As Radio One continues the move of Rickey Smiley to their Adult R&B stations and the rollout of the Morning Hustle on their Hip-Hop stations, another of their local morning shows has gone MIA.
The Veda Loca Morning Show is no longer airing on “97.9 The Beat” KBFB Dallas, while the station is promoting the launch of The Morning Hustle on Monday, January 13. Veda Loca had moved to mornings from afternoons in November 2017. The show also featured former KBFB night host J-Kruz, Jazzi Black, and producer/mixer DJ Kayotic. Nobody from the station or the show has commented on their status.
Two hours of the show also aired on Nexstar Media’s “CW33” KDAF-TV Dallas as “The Beat On 33” from 6-8am since March 2019. That station quietly removed the program from its schedule this week.
The disappearance of the Veda Loca show follows a similar move with the Madd Hatta Morning Show at KBXX Houston.
Upon the launch of The Morning Hustle at KBFB on Monday, the new show will air on all but two of Radio One’s Hip-Hop stations. Only “Hot 107.9” WHTA Atlanta, which retained Smiley due to Premiere Networks’ Steve Harvey airing on “Majic 107.5/97.5” WAMJ/WUMJ, and KBXX are not carrying the new HeadKrack led program.
