RC Media Partners will begin operating K&Z Broadcasting’s 1010 WTZA Atlanta and its leased 102.1 W271CV Atlanta on February 3.
The company, led by Will Regan, intends to flip the Spanish Christian “Vida 1010” to Conservative Talk featuring a few hosts from Cumulus Media’s defunct “Talk 106.7” WYAY. Mike Brooks, a former Washington DC police officer and CNN reporter who had hosted 12-3pm on WYAY, will host 1-4pm on WTZA. He will be followed by longtime Atlanta talker Kim ‘Kimmer’ Peterson from 4-7pm. Peterson currently hosts a three times a week podcast.
The remainder of the schedule is yet to be set, however the RC Media Partners lists “The Shannon Burke Show with Kara Stockton” and “The Flat Earth Jamie Show with Will Regan” among their shows. Burke, after the end of WYAY, joined JVC Broadcasting’s “Florida Man Radio” in Orlando and Gainesville as afternoon host.
WTZA will join a crowded Talk marketplace in Atlanta with Cox’ market-leading News/Talk 750 WSB/95.5 WSBB, iHeartMedia’s “Fox News 640” WGST and Salem Media’s “920 The Answer” WGKA already entrenched. The upstart will also have a signal hurdle in that, while the station operates with 50kW day, it only operates with 47 watts at night and its translator does not hit the higher concentration of conservatives in the outer fringes of Atlanta proper in-particular suburban Gwinnett County.
