All the numbers can be found at RadioInsight.com/Ratings.
Numbers of note include:
- Its rare to see a non-Christmas or Christian station show major growth in the Holiday book, but Entercom’s “95.7 R&B” WVKL Norfolk has become the exception. WVKL remains in the market’s top spot with a three month trend of 11.7 – 12.7 – 14.1, but ratings expert Chris Huff notes that it was still off from the station’s record of 15.5 in August 2018.
- Entercom AC “101.3 2WD” WWDE placed second in Norfolk with a 12.4 share, which was down from its 13.6 in 2018. iHeartMedia Rhythmic AC “Movin 107.7” WMOV-FM registered a 3.1 with Christmas music.
- Emmis AC “B105.7” WYXB Indianapolis set a station record with an 18.2 share, up big from 13.4 in 2017 and 16.4 in 2018. In 2017, WYXB had competition from Cumulus’ 93.9 WRWM, but has not had a direct Christmas music competitor the past two years.
- Huff notes that Entercom AC “Lite 100.5” WRCH Hartford tied its station record set in 2016. The station has consistently ranked in the 18 share range with an 18.3 in 2017 and 18.0 in 2018.
- Capitol Broadcasting AC “Mix 101.5” WRAL-FM Raleigh sets the market lead with a 9.1 share, but keeps trending downward from its 10.4 in 2017 and 9.6 in 2018. Radio One Gospel “103.9 The Light” WNNL could be part of the reason as that station has risen to third with a 5.5 – 6.2 – 7.0 three month trend.
- Curtis Media Hot AC “92.9 Star-FM” 570 WPLW, which launched in June, has finally shown some growth with a 0.2 – 0.4 – 0.9 monthly trend.
- Entercom AC “Majic 95.5” KKMJ Austin rebounds from its 9.5 showing in Holiday 20118 to lead the market with an 11.8 this year.
- It was a tight battle between the two Christmas stations in Milwaukee as iHeartMedia Classic Hits “95.7 Big-FM” WRIT led with an 11.8 share, with Milwaukee Radio Alliance AC “B93.3” WLDB just behind with an 11.4.
- Renda AC “Lite 96.1” WEJZ Jacksonville has shown major growth the past three years with a Holiday book trendline of 11.9 – 16.3 – 18.4. In 2017, Cox Media Group Soft AC “Easy 102.9” WEZI went all-Christmas but has not the past two years.
- Taking a major hit was iHeartMedia Country 99.1 WQIK Jacksonville with a 7.0 – 4.0 month-to-month drop.
- iHeartMedia AC 99.5 WMAG Greensboro leads its market with a 16.2 share, down slightly from its 16.5 last year.
- Trending upwards is Hubbard Classic Hits “Sunny 107.9” WEAT-FM West Palm Beach with a 9.1 – 10.7 – 12.5 share the past three years.
- Midwest AC “Mix 92.9” WJXA Nashville registers a 15.8 share this year, up from 14.1 in 2018, while Salem Christian AC “94 The Fish” adds an additional 4.0 share with Christmas music.
- Cumulus AC “Lite Rock 105” WWLI Providence trends up 12.3 – 16.2 – 16.8 the past three years.
- iHeartMedia R&B “V101” KJMS Memphis retains its market lead with a 9.4 share. Entercom AC “104.5 The River” WRVR uses Christmas music to place second with a 9.4, down from its 12.9 in 2017 and 11.3 in 2018. Cumulus Soft AC “98.9 The Bridge” WKIM-FM adds an additional 2.9 of Christmas music shares.
