The FCC has issued a report on the ownership demographics of all broadcast stations as of October 1, 2017.
Women held collective or individual majority voting interests in 9.3% of all commercial AM stations and 7.2% of commercial FMs. Comparatively, men held 78.3% of AMs and 82.6% of FMs. The remaining percentages account for stations that were jointly held by men and women. On the noncommercial side, women owned 11.6% of non-com AMs and 9.1% of FMs.
In terms of ethnicity, Hispanic/Latino people held 6.1% of commercial AMs and 4.1% of commercial FMs. Non-com ownership accounted for 6.6% of AMs and 2.8% of FMs.
People classifying as racial minorities owned 5.9% of commercial AMs and 2.9% of commercial FMs. While not breaking down the differences between AM, FM or television stations, the FCC notes that American Indian/Alaska Natives owned 31 commercial licenses, Asians owned 136, Black/African Americans owned 239, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islanders owned 7, and Persons of two or more races owned 3 commercial broadcast stations. Minorities owned 4.7% of non-commercial AMs and 2.6% of FMs.

FCC Actions
The FCC has issued an Order To Pay or Show Cause to Del Rosario Talpa’s 1090 KNCR Fortuna CA for failure to pay $14,300.90 in regulatory fees from 2007, 2008 and 2012-2016 and Consolidated Radio’s 890 KVOZ Del Mar Hills TX for failure to pay $11,957.28 from 2016-2019. Both stations have sixty days to either make full payment or show documentation as to why “the payment is inapplicable or should be waived or deferred”.
The FCC has rescinded its deletion of Cox Broadcast Group’s 1100 WCGA Woodbine GA last month failed to consider a pleading filed by Cox in response to its Order To Pay or Show Cause.
