Forever Media has made cuts at its Wilmington DE/Havre de Grace MD cluster.
At least eleven people were let go at the cluster that includes CHR 93.7 WSTW Wilmington, Adult R&B “Jammin 96.9” 1510 WVJJ/96.9 W245CJ, News/Talk 1150 WDEL/101.7 WDEL-FM and Country 103.7 WXCY. The Wilmington News-Journal reports that “the layoffs come as revenue drastically drops for many news organizations because local businesses are being closed to slow the spread of the coronavirus”.
Among the departures from the cluster are WDEL late morning host Allan Loudell, WXCY morning co-host Blair Thomas, traffic reporter Robin Bryson, and cluster Marketing/Promotions Director Mark Vizza.
With Loudell’s departure from his 9am-12pm “Del-Aware” show, WDEL has realigned its programming schedule. Delaware’s Morning News with Peter MacArthur will now run until 10am, Rick Jensen moves from 12-4pm to 10am-2pm, and Delaware’s Afternoon News with Chris Carl extends from 4-630pm to 2-630pm.
It’s Forever. They would have done this anyway, slower, over the course of a year or two after getting the station. This is just an excuse for them to do it all at once and plug in the Westwood One satellite formats they plug into all of their markets.
