MediaCo New York has promoted Alex Roman to Chief Technology Officer for Hip Hop “Hot 97” WQHT and Adult R&B 107.5 WBLS.
Roman joined the then-Emmis cluster in 2011 as Director of Integrated Technologies in 2011 after previously serving as Chief Engineer for Big City Radio Los Angeles, 103.5 WKTU New York and Director of Engineering for Citadel New York. Roman has also held engineering positions in Sacramento, Santa Barbara and Ventura CA.
The new role will see Roman take an enhanced role in building out the company’s digital platforms.
Alex Roman has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer of MediaCo New York Radio, which includes Hot97 and WBLS 107.5.

Roman joined Emmis as Director of Integrated Technologies for its New York radio cluster in 2011. He has been a broadcast engineer for more than 24 years, starting his career in California with roles in Sacramento, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles. His previous positions in New York City have included Chief Engineer of WKTU-FM and Director of Engineering for Citadel Broadcasting.
He has led several projects to modernize facilities for WQHT / WBLS / WLIB including development of new digital media production space and upgrade of the studio plant to Audio over IP. Roman and his technology team also oversaw the reconstruction of the WQHT / WBLS Empire State Building transmitter facility and implementation of a new auxiliary transmitter site on 4 Times Square.
