A legal battle is brewing over Jackson TN host Dan Reaves.
Reaves exited The Wireless Group News/Talk 101.5 WNWS-FM Jackson earlier this month stating he was pursuing other interests outside the radio industry. Reaves had spent two decades at WNWS-FM serving as 8-11am host, account executive and Sports Director at the station.
Good News Radio Talk 93.1 WTJS Alamo announced last week that Reaves would join that station, for which he debuted on Tuesday in the same 8-11am timeslot. WTJS was in the process of rebranding as “News Talk West Tennessee” and add simulcasts on 1190 WJPJ Humboldt/99.9 W260BA Clarksburg and 1250 WKBL/101.9 W270DR Covington.
The Jackson Sun reports that The Wireless Group filed for a temporary restraining order preventing Reaves from remaining on WTJS. Wireless Group alleges that Reaves had a non-compete in his contract and must sit out one year before joining a competing broadcaster. Wireless Group also sued Reaves himself with allegations including violating his contract, intentionally interfering with its business and revealing company secrets to a competitor.
