Longtime Oklahoma City programmer Mike McCoy is joining Stephens Media Group as Operations Manager for its Rochester NY cluster.
McCoy will oversee operations of Variety Hits “Fickle 93.3” WFKL, Alternative “94.1 The Zone” WZNE, and AC “Warm 101.3” WRMM while serving as PD of WFKL and WRMM. McCoy is best known for 28 year run programming iHeartMedia CHR “KJ 103.3” KJYO Oklahoma City from 1989 until 2017. While in Oklahoma City he also programmed Alternative “95X” 94.7 KNRX and Soft AC 94.7 KQSR and eventually rose to SVP/Programming. He has also programmed KNMQ Albuquerque and WMGZ Youngstown and worked on-air at WNCI Columbus, KLUC Las Vegas, and WBZZ Pittsburgh.
The cluster includes Soft AC ‘Warm 101.3” WRMM-FM , Alternative “94.1 The Zone” WZNE-FM, and Adult Hits “Fickle 93.3” WFKL-FM. McCoy will begin his new position on July 6th.
Mike has a track record of leading successful stations such as CHR “KJ103” KJYO Oklahoma City where he spent 28 years as Program Director, taking the station to #1 persons 12+ and 24-54. He also signed on and programmed OKC’s first alternative station “95X” KNRX and held the Operations Manager role for Soft AC “94.7 KQSR”. Other programming stops include KNMQ Albuquerque and WMGZ Youngstown. Prior to his PD duties, he was an on-air personality at KLUC Las Vegas, WNCI Columbus, and B94 Pittsburgh among others.
McCoy states “This is a tremendous opportunity! I love New York, my roots run deep in the area. This is the perfect landscape to create the excitement that is too often missing from radio today. I’m grateful to Stephens Media SVP of Programming Bob Thornton and Market Manager Mike Ninnie for the chance to lead an amazing team who is so dedicated to the community.”
“Mike is exactly the kind of person we need in the Rochester market.” states SVP Programming Bob Thornton, “His relentless pursuit of excellence, leadership qualities and vast experience will take this cluster to new heights.”
In addition to his Operations Manager duties, Mike will also serve as the Program Director for Warm 101.3 and Fickle 93.3.
Wishing Mike McCoy luck… I was disappointed when 94.7 KQSR signed off the air. I never found a soft AC quiet like it.
