98.7 KWTO-FM Springfield began stunting with Christmas music over the weekend while continuing to run sweepers directing the audience of its former “Jock” Sports format to its new home on 1060 KBFL/96.9 K245CA Springfield and 99.9 KBFL-FM Buffalo MO.
Zimmer has filed to swap the call letters of 98.7 KWTO-FM with that of Red Dirt Country “101.3 The Outlaw” KTXR. We have had multiple Domain Insight reports (6/9, 6/19, 8/2) on Zimmer’s plans for 98.7 and the rest of its newly acquired Springfield cluster.
Update 7/31: Zimmer has begun the reconstruction of its soon-to-be acquired Springfield MO cluster as “Jock 98.7” KWTO-FM Springfield have begun simulcasting on 1060 KBFL/96.9 K245CA Springfield and 99.9 KBFL-FM Buffalo MO in preparation of their permanent move.
The station is now branding as “Jock 96.9/1060” with the move to the new frequencies.
Original Report 7/26: Zimmer Radio has confirmed it has begun operating Meyer Communications cluster in Springfield MO and will begin revamping its programming offerings in early August.
Sports “Jock 98.7” KWTO-FM Springfield announced on Friday that it will replace Adult Standards on as “Jock 96.9“. A new undisclosed music format will then launch on the 98.7 signal.
We exclusively reported in early June that Zimmer would be acquiring Meyer’s Springfield cluster to join their holdings in Columbia and Jefferson City MO as part of a series of domain registrations for the cluster that also includes Red Dirt Country “101.3 The Outlaw” KTXR and News/Talk 560 KWTO. The Ozarks Independent reports that the LMA began at the start of July.
