Following the firing of Kimberly Ray and Barry Beck in June for racist comments on-air, iHeartMedia Hot Talk “Radio 95.1” WAIO Rochester NY will debut “The Big Show” in afternoons on Thursday, August 6.
The Big Show will be hosted by the trio of Earl David Reed, Megan Carter and Pat McMahon. Reed, a touring comedian, joins the station from mornings at Cumulus Media Alternative “105.7 The X” WQXA York PA. Reed has also worked at WPLR New Haven, KBUL and KURR Salt Lake City and WCMF Rochester.
Both Carter and McMahon are returning to iHeartMedia Rochester after being part of the company’s deep cuts in January. Carter hosted afternoons at CHR “Kiss 106.7” WKGS from October 2018 until January. She also spent a decade at Entercom CHR 97.9 WPXY Rochester eventually serving as Music Director and morning host.
McMahon co-hosted mornings at “Mix 100.5” WDVI Rochester and “Y94” WYYY Syracuse until January. McMahon previously producer Kimberly and Beck’s show when they were at Entercom’s 98.9 WBZA and had been at WYYY from 2014 until January.
Radio 95.1, Home of Brother Wease and DiTullio & Moran, announced today the debut of “The Big Show,” effective immediately. “The Big Show” will broadcast weekdays from 2 – 7 p.m.
“The Big Show” will be hosted by Earl David Reed, Megan Carter and Pat McMahon. Every afternoon the hosts will entertain listeners with their unique takes on the top headlines of the day and topics that focus on the community’s general interests. The show is a non-stop blend of hilarious conversation, pop culture headlines, news and information, sports, and even the occasional dose of parenting and relationship advice. Interactive and socially-engaged, for listeners, the dynamic trio are their friends, and they don’t want to miss a chance to hang out with them daily.
Reed is a nationally recognized stand-up comedian who has played some of the nation’s biggest comedy clubs and has appeared on “The Tonight Show.” Carter most recently served as the afternoon host on iHeartMedia Rochester’s KISS 106.7. McMahon has also been an important contributor to iHeartMedia Rochester’s success in his six years with the company.
